Fishline to Host “Empty Bowl” Virtual Luncheon on November 20th

Announcements, News

Kitsap community members are invited to join Fishline Food Bank and Comprehensive Services for “Empty Bowl”, a virtual luncheon bringing together Fishline’s volunteers, supporters, and neighbors. Taking place on November 20th, the luncheon will provide the opportunity for community members to engage with Fishline’s new COVID-19 process, hear client stories about how Fishline has impacted them, honor and acknowledge Fishline’s volunteers, and hear from local businesses and organizations who support Fishline. Tickets are available at https://fishlinehelps.org/news-events/empty-bowls/ starting October 21st, 2020.

“We are incredibly excited to host the community at our virtual ‘lunch and learn’,” says Fishline director Lori Maxim. “We have missed being able to engage with North Kitsap and showcase the work that we do, and we are thrilled for the opportunity to open our door to our neighbors and spend some time with our community.” Maxim also notes the increase in need that Fishline has seen over the past months. “Fishline has seen incredible growth in the number of families and individuals needing support, especially as the colder weather sets in. This event will support Fishline’s mission to deliver a safety net for the most vulnerable in North Kitsap county.”

Empty Bowl will take place online from 12:30pm to 1:30pm on November 20th, 2020. Community members can purchase a ticket for $25, which includes a $15 lunch ticket that can be used at several of Fishline’s partner restaurants for the event. All proceeds from the event will be used to ensure Fishline’s clients have access to high quality produce, holiday meal items, and other comprehensive services.

Fishline is continuing to work with businesses and organization sponsors in the community. Businesses and organizations interested in supporting this event can reach out to Dani Wasia, Fishline’s Communications and Marketing Manager, at [email protected] or by calling 360-208-8508.

This event is currently sponsored by Clear Creek RV, Kitsap Daily News, Integrity Roofing and Construction, Peninsula Paint Centers, Robison Plumbing Services Inc., KIMCO Plumbing, WestHills Autoplex, Poulsbo Village, Bird Electric Corp., Joe Gates Construction, SERVPRO of Kitsap County, Tim Ryan Construction, Inc., Central Market of Poulsbo, and Kitsap Credit Union. Fishline to Launch “Fresh Start”, A Mobile Shower Service on October 5

Announcements, News

Fishline Food Bank & Comprehensive Services is excited to announce Fresh Start, a mobile shower program for our unsheltered community members who do not have access to a shower. Fresh Start aims to promote the physical, emotional, and mental health of North Kitsap County’s most vulnerable individuals. “Unsheltered people are exposed to life-threatening illness every day, including COVID-19,” says Lauren Beck, Fresh Start Program Manager. “This program will help Fishline expand its safety net to address this emergent need at this unprecedented time.”

“Access to a shower is the most requested service by our unsheltered community members. We are honored to be able to provide this basic human service. We hope to create relationships and establish trust that supports our mission to provide food, emergency services and resources to transform lives,” says Sandra Allen, Client Services Manager.

Fishline is grateful to our community partners Kitsap Rescue Mission, the City of Poulsbo, Clear Creek RV, and Integrity Roofing who are supporting us in this program.

Community members in need can sign up for a shower by emailing [email protected] or calling 360-779-5190. Fishline will provide towels, hygiene products, clothing, laundry change and soap, and access to additional support services. For more details go to www.fishlinehelps.org or email [email protected].

Fishline Response to Hazardous Air Conditions – Keeping our Volunteers Safe

Announcements, News

The Fishline staff has worked this week to develop a response to the hazardous air quality conditions resulting from wildfires along the West coast. In order to protect the health of our volunteers, Fishline will be modifying the Food Bank and Second Season in the following ways…

Food Bank volunteers will prepare pre-bagged produce this week. We will return to the drive-up produce stand as soon as possible!

Second Season Donations will be put on hold until the air quality improves. As soon as it is safe for our volunteers to be spending long periods of time outside we will re-open our donation hours for Second Season! The Second Season store is still open and looking forward to seeing you!
