Fresh Start Shower Program Update

Announcements, News

Since Fresh Start’s inception, Kitsap Rescue Mission has allowed Fishline use of their own mobile shower trailer. Because of their generosity, our clients have taken 232 showers since October 2020. At this time, Kitsap Rescue Mission needs the unit returned to assist their clients as they transition to a new location. But thanks to Faith Episcopal Church, we will not be closing Fresh Start! From July through to the end of August, our shower program will remain open at our regular hours at Faith Episcopal Church.

Our sincerest gratitude goes out to Kitsap Rescue Mission for their help in expanding our services to the community and to Faith Episcopal Church for providing us a space to continue serving our community with this important program.

Outdoor Market in Summer Weather

Announcements, News

As the weather changes and temperatures creep into the 100’s, the drive up food bank will be closed Monday, June 28. We do, however have non perishable foods left on pallets outside of the building. The current weather forecast is showing temperatures near 100 to 106 degrees and we feel this is the safest way to provide food for both our volunteers and clients.

For updates on when our Market will be closed due to weather, please check our Facebook.

Cooling Stations Across North Kitsap

Hot weather is coming and there will be three cooling centers open in Poulsbo and one in Kingston over the next few days. All are welcome at the following locations:

Fishline’s 1st Annual Community Meeting: Watch it here!

Announcements, News

We welcome the public to learn more about the many programs we offer to the community in addition to our Food Bank. This “year-in-review” will also cover many of the challenges we overcame during the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2020. Here at Fishline we believe in neighbors helping neighbors.

Listen to heartfelt experiences from our volunteers and clients on just how far we throw our community safety net. Meet our Board President and Director as we thank those who donate their time, money, food, and commodities to Fishline.

Our New Outdoor Market Model

Announcements, News

Like most food banks in the region, we are excited to reopen our market as soon as it is safe to do so. Covid-19 protocol limits occupancy in the market and we want to ensure the safety of our volunteers, clients, and staff members. We will continue our drive-thru food pickup framework until it is deemed safe to reopen to the public.

But, we know our clients have been yearning to select items for themselves. Fishline understands this need and has adapted, erecting tents in our parking lot. Clients remain in their vehicle and point to items produce, snack, drinks, and sweets they prefer. Our wonderful volunteers gather the requested items and place it in the trunk, ensuring that social distancing protocols remain in place. It has been a huge success.
